Move Somethin’

2 Live Crew

About “Move Somethin’”

Before their second album Move Somethin', 2 Live Crew was hip hop group that had a few dirty songs like “Throw The D(ick)”, “We Want Some Pussy” and “Get It Girl”. But with the release of this album, they became officially became known as a pornographic rap group.

Almost half of the songs on Move Somethin' are explicitly graphic in nature. Authorities began trying to penalize record store clerks who sold Move Somethin', but had no real success. The album was the first ever to be sold in both explicit and edited versions.

Record label owner Luther “Luke Skyywalker” Campbell became the group’s fourth member, participating in many of the songs on Move Somethin', something he would continue doing on their subsequent albums. In fact, the group’s fourth album would originally be credited to Luke featuring 2 Live Crew.

Move Somethin' peaked at #68 in the US and was certified gold within eight months of its release. Its two singles “Do Wah Diddy” and the title track were minor hits on the R&B/Hip-Hop Chart.
