DemoLuca is the first demo ever recorded by Billy Talent, still called Pezz at the time. The demo is named after Jason Deluca, a close friend of the band.
It was recorded in the basement of guitarist Ian D'Sa’s house, using a four-track recorder, and only 100 copies were printed.
The demo is a raw mixture of Ben Kowalewicz‘ rap flow over hip-hop beats and punk rock riffs.
In the episode “Billy Talent in Their Own Words” of the Ongoing History of New Music radio show, Ian D'Sa recalled:
Jon used to have a four-track, and back then it was a hard thing to find, and he had a TASCAM four-track so, we recorded our first four-song demo on my parent’s basement and we called it DemoLuca, and that was done in ‘94 and we used that to try to get shows downtown […]
