Under the Westway - Single Tracklist

About “Under the Westway - Single”

“Under the Westway” is a single by British rock band Blur, available initially as download-only, later receiving a physical release along with “The Puritan” a month later. It was the first single to be released by the band as a four piece since their 2010 single “Fools Day.” Despite receiving lackluster chart success, (being their lowest placing single since their debut, “She’s So High,”) it received high praise from publications and fans alike.

One notable review from the NME claims it to be- “one of the finest songs they’ve ever written, and certainly one of the saddest.” It was placed third in NME’s ‘Best Tracks of 2012’ list, as well as being listed on Pitchfork Media’s ‘Top 100 Tracks of 2012’ list. About the song, Bass player Alex James told the BBC- “(It’s) a classic Blur ballad … a stand still and cry your eyes out sort of job.” A rough mix of the song can also be found in the ‘Blur 21’ box set.
