“Escape” is the shelved fourth album by singer-songwriter Brandy. She began recording the album almost immediately after the release of her third album Full Moon.
Early sessions for the album included work with Full Moon songwriters/producers including Rodney Jerkins, LaShawn Daniels, Mike City, Big Bert, Kenisha Pratt and Nora Payne.
Husband Big Bert [Robert Smith] eventually took over executive production duties with Brandy herself writing all the songs with songwriter/guitarist Blake English. Over 30 tracks were recorded with the trio but after Brandy’s split with her now ex-husband, the album was cancelled and re-recorded as Afrodisiac.
Tracks from the album were eventually sold to and placed with several artists including Kiley Dean (“Escape”, “Confused”, “Better Than The Day”), Kelly Rowland (“Love/Hate”), Jennifer Lopez (“Ryde Or Die”), Toni Braxton (“Always”, “Selfish”) and Tarralyn Ramsey (“Take Me Away”).
