Safe + Sound

DJ Quik

About “Safe + Sound”

DJ Quik’s third album, Safe + Sound, sees him expand his brand of G-Funk with more live instrumentation courtesy of himself, G-One, Robert “Fonksta” Bacon, and Warryn Campbell. He also continues his beef with MC Eiht on “Let You Havit” and the hardcore diss track “Dollaz + Sense,” which was first released on Death Row’s Murder Was the Case soundtrack in 1994.

The album peaked at number 14 on the Billboard 200 and number 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. “Dollaz + Sense” and “Summer Breeze” were released as singles but the title track was the only single that had a music video. The album was also executive produced by Death Row Records CEO and fellow Compton native Suge Knight.
