Our Version of Events

Emeli Sandé

About “Our Version of Events”

Propelling her to international success, Our Version of Events is Emeli Sandé’s debut album. “Heaven” was the first single released, followed by “Daddy”, “Next to Me”, “My Kind of Love” and “Clown”.

When released, Our Version of Events instantly hit the top of the UK Albums Charts and stayed there for 10 non-consecutive weeks, and went 8x Platinum in November 2018. It became the second-fastest selling album of 2012 behind Lana Del Rey’s Born to Die.

The album features production credits from Naughty Boy and Alicia Keys, who she participated in writing sessions with. Simon Cowell also showed support for Sandé, calling her “his favourite songwriter”—it’s also worth noting that Emeli had written for many artists from Cowell’s label Syco Records, including Cher Lloyd, Susan Boyle and Leona Lewis.

Sandé also worked with Professor Green on the album—their song “Read All About It, Pt. III” appears as the 14th track—and received cosigns from artists like Ed Sheeran (he said Our Version of Events could be as big as Adele’s 21).

The Our Version of Events tour began in November 2011, and Emeli also performed in locations such as Dublin, Birmingham and London.
