About “Evanescence”

Evanescence is the self-titled third studio album by Evanescence, released on October 7, 2011 through Wind-up Records.

It was originally scheduled for release in Fall 2010, but Amy Lee and the band were forced to abandon and scrap the album in progress in early 2010 after the record label rejected the project, produced by Steve Lillywhite. Lee stated also that the early electronic and experimental-leaning songs didn’t suit the band’s sound. Only three songs from the early sessions were drastically reworked on the final album.

Production started again in April 2011 and ended in July of that year. It was produced by Nick Raskulinecz and recorded in Blackbird Studios, Nashville, TN.

The reason why the album is self-titled is that it’s “about the band; it’s more of a band record”, whereas the album being worked on in the early sessions was more of a “solo album.”
