About “MLP: The Movie (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)”

Based on My Little Pony, the original animated television series for the franchise, this feature length movie was released in theaters in 1986 in the US by Sunbow Productions and Marvel Productions. Animation production was undertaken by by Toei Animation in Japan and AKOM in South Korea. The music for the movie was composed by Robert J. Walsh (credited as Rob Walsh).

The story follows the little ponies as spring begins. The ponies have set up a festival to celebrate, but high above them at the Volcano of Gloom the witches Hydia, Draggle, and Reeka are plotting to put an end to their festivities with the evil Smooze. The witches succeed and Ponyland is covered in the sentient purple goo. Undaunted, the ponies and their human friends Megan, Danny and Molly set out to find a way to defeat the Smooze. Meanwhile Baby Lickety-split and Spike the dragon, who have run away from home, have an adventure all their own.
