The Great Expanse Restrung

The Great Expanse Restrung, is the upcoming ninth studio album by the legendary Australian Hip Hop trio, Hilltop Hoods. The Album will serve as a follow up to 2019’s, The Great Exapanse. As well as the third and possibly final restrung installment, following 2016’s Drinking From The Sun, Walking Under Stars Restrung.

The album was announced on May 12th via their Instagram, whilst celebrating the anniversary of the original restrung project, the Hard Road Restrung, they posted a screenshot of a dropbox featuring stems of Restrung songs, previosuly featured on, The Great Expanse. In the bio of the post it was stated, “…you’ll see that the we’ve been working on the third installment for the last year. It won’t be out anytime soon, but I promise you, this one will be special.” Therefore this project shouldn’t be anticipated for release promptly, but is likely within the next couple years.

The singles, Show Business, & A Whole Night’s Day, have been released within recent months suggesting an album release is iminent, however it is unclear if these serve as singles to The Great Expanse Restrung or if they are singles for a yet to be released companion album to The Great Expanse. A companion album like this would result in a Restrung double album slated for 2024+, like Drinking From The Sun Walking Under Stars Restrung. Despite the possibility of the latter, the release of a solo restrung album seems more likely. A key piece of evidence to back this up is the heavily orchestral based instrumental’s on the singles, as well as the similar style feature on Show Business, alikened to 2016’s Higher and the identical features on A Whole Night’s Day, alikened to 1955.

An official announcement of this project is expected mid to late 2022, either during or post their, The Show Business Tour.

Other expected features on the album include, a song with A.B. Original, among many more Restrung songs from The Great Expanse LP.
