The eighth album by Australian band INXS, released as grunge and alternative music was breaking into the mainstream. After achieving mega-stardom with three albums produced by Chris Thomas, the band decided to work again with Australian producer Mark Opitz, who had produced their 1982 LP Shabooh Shoobah. The band sought a “rawer” sound for the album, in contrast with the tight, polished sound they had achieved with Thomas. Although well-received critically and commercially, the band decided not to tour behind the album, and it peaked at #16 in the US charts (#1 UK, #2 Australia).
