The House Is Burning Tracklist
The House Is Burning is Tennessee rapper Isaiah Rashad’s second studio album. This project is the follow-up to his debut album, The Sun’s Tirade.
On October 24th, 2017, Isaiah previewed a track from the project in an Instagram Live video, initiating rumors of a new album. Almost two years later on June 21st, 2019, Isaiah revealed the title of the project in an Instagram Live stream.
After a year and a half of Isaiah teasing new material on various social media posts and livestream sessions, on April 28, 2021, TDE posted a cryptic announcement revealing that something from the label was going to be coming on May 7, 2021. The release was confirmed to be the album’s lead single “Lay Wit Ya” when the label posted a YouTube premiere that featured a copyright claim for the track in its description.
The next week on May 6, 2021, his FADER cover story “After the Fire” revealed that The House is Burning was slated for a June 2021 release. It also confirmed that many snippets that Rashad had teased had made the album and that the track listing had a 20 song duration.

Hopefully this is the start of something new—no more five-year gaps.
I tried to hone in on the energy of all the types of music I grew up listening to—Texas bounce, Louisiana bounce, a little bit of neo-soul in there. I tried to update it, flip it and make it apply to how I be feeling nowadays.

What has the artist said about the album making process?
In a press release reported by Pitchfork in May 2021, Isaiah explained how “difficult” creating the album was was:
I love music, but I don’t like to say shit. It’s almost like a game for me. It’s like working out. I don’t want to be redundant. Redundancy in general bothers me. Any song that I make, I usually make it in about 30 minutes to an hour, and that’s it. My ideas come to me immediately.
He also added:
Music is where I go to express myself. It’s what I do to close a chapter. You know what’s crazy? I’m not even ashamed to say it…. I really think my albums aren’t different from each other. Eventually, one of my albums will become a classic. I just love this shit. It’s me.
