About “Spontaneity”

Spontaneity is the first official release of the Houston based rap duo K-Otix, made up of Micah Nickerson and Damien Randle. Micah and Damien met in high school when Micah noticed Damien writing rhymes instead of notes in class. Shortly afterwards they teamed up to compete in a contest, but got beat out of first place by someone singing gospel. That didn’t matter however, as that was the spark that created KO. K -Otix made a name for themselves starting in 1992, performing live shows and having various demo tapes circulating around the scene as well. Despite gaining a following, they would wait several years until putting out any material as they wanted to refine their sound and hone in their skills. Teamed up with Russel “the Are” Gonzalez, they dropped the Spontaneity EP in 1997 on vinyl. The EP would go on to be repressed twice, with each run supposedly having 500 copies each. K-Otix would go on to release numerous other records partnered with Bronx Science and BUDS Distribution afterwards, changing their sound with each project.

The first pressing with yellow labels.

The second pressing with red labels.

The third pressing with blue labels. This version lacks a hype sticker on the jacket.
