LL told Contact Music that he “researched” The DEFinition by hitting parties, afterparties, gigs and jams from LA to Miami to make what he called “a DJ’s dream”:
I wanted to make music that allows people to have a good time. I enjoy the romantic stuff and DEFintion has some of that as well, but I really wanted something that was up in the club. I think that the people that have been listening to me should expect a really energetic club record.
