About “11•11•11”

11•11•11 is a live album by MGMT. The tracklist consists of music created explicitly for the 2011 Maurizio Cattelan retrospective, All, which opened in New York’s Guggenheim Museum on November 11, 2011.

Created after the band’s second album, April 2010’s Congratulations, 11•11•11 follows a similar foray into psychedelic indie rock.

Fans long anticipated the release of the music, dubbed simply “Guggenheim,” with 2011 cellphone-recording-quality bootlegs being the only way to hear the music online. In April 2021, lead vocalist Andrew VanWyngarden would tease the eventual release of the Guggenheim performance with a Reddit post showing multi-track stems for the performance, leading fans to theorize a release on the 10th anniversary.

The music from the Guggenheim performance would be released as 11•11•11, eleven years after its original debut.
