MIKE DEAN

About “4:20”

Super producer Mike Dean’s solo album, 4:20, was announced on Twitter by Dean himself and was further confirmed on April 3, 2020, when Mike Dean released album bundles on his merch website. Due to the quarantining that was caused by COVID-19, Mike Dean started streaming regularly on his Instagram to play synths, the stream archives were posted on his YouTube channel. The album merch for 4:20 was also to raise money to directly support MusicCares COVID-19 Relief Fund.

“4:20” Q&A

  • What have the artists said about the album?

I have always had this idea that I wanted to release my own music on the date 4/20. Without my usual musical collaborators, I used the self-isolating experience to improvise on my synthesizers. I felt like I was inside AND in space, I want to share where my head is at these days. This album is almost entirely comprised of the music I created in one take via live streams on Instagram.
