Demons Protected By Angels Tracklist
Demons Protected By Angels is NAV’s fourth studio album. It serves as his first solo release as a lead artist in almost two years, following his November 2020 mixtape, Emergency Tsunami.
On June 20, 2022, NAV tweeted the date July 29, indicating a possible release on that date. Exactly one week following this, he revealed the title of the album to be Demons Protected by Angels through a tweet.
Billboards would slowly start appearing in NAV’s hometown of Toronto, Canada, reading:

Despite fans beliefs, on July 25, 2022, RapCaviar confirmed that the aforementioned release date would be the album’s lead single “Never Sleep,” with Travis Scott and Lil Baby. In the comment section of RapCaviar’s post, NAV confirmed album will be released after the single.
Two weeks after the album’s second single “Wrong Decisions” released, on September 6, 2022, RapCaviar posted the tracklist to their Twitter account.

What have the artists said about the album?
The album title was inspired by a sweater that my friend has made. And I’ve begged him to get the sweater. I was like, “Yo, I wanna wear your shit and support my friend’s stuff.” So he brought it out and it had that on the back of the sweater. And it was very meaningful to me, because he came up with that himself when his mom passed away about a year ago. So I was like, “Wow, that’s even better.” Like, it actually has a good [meaning]. So that’s why we came up with it. […] Someone close to me had pointed my eyes toward the sweater. They’re like, “Oh, that’s fire, can you make an album called that?” But the whole quote on the sweater was “fighting demons protected by angels.” We thought it was too long. Then one of my producers had mentioned, “Maybe we should take the ‘fighting’ out.” We thought about it, and called our friends to ask them their opinion. We all said it’s kind of dope. Then one day we were playing dominoes in the studio, and I just randomly asked him, ‘How’d you come up with that?’ He found that on Google, and then he told me where it’s from. It was even more meaningful.

What was the recording process behind this album?
For this album, I started it at my crib. Did a couple songs, wasn’t really recording much. So Cash pulled me out of the crib, told me to come to Miami. We set up a recording thing in the house, made a fuckin' booth out of blankets and pillows under this little tent. And Uzi was there. And from that trip, the forty or fifty songs we did, we picked the best ones. Went to Toronto, set up a studio there, forty or fifty songs, picked the best ones. So every trip we just took the best songs.
