young forever (extended) is a re-issue of Nessa Barrett’s debut album, young forever. The original album was released on October 14, 2022, and the extended version was released November 18, 2022. Barrett spoke about releasing a deluxe version of young forever on TikTok lives, and she asked for fans opinions on which songs they want on this extended version. Barrett got back into the studio on September 27, 2022, before her album was even released, to work on the deluxe.

Barrett has said that she felt sad that her deluxe songs were not on her offical debut album, but she is excited for her fans to hear them. At Barrett’s When We Were Young show and her El Rey One Night Only show in late October, 2022, Barrett performed four new songs, all of which are featured on the tracklist.
