Drifters is the sixth studio album by ProbCause, released on August 28, 2015 by Lowtemp Records. It was made available for streaming a day early via ProbCause’s SoundCloud.
In a Red Bull interview with ProbCause about Drifters, which announced the early stream, ProbCause gave his thoughts on the album.
“[This album] is much more musical than anything I’ve made in the past,” says ProbCause. “It combines my favorite parts of all my favorite genres. I really like the idea of weaving my voice between jazzy trumpets, classical violins, digital drums and making it all fit together somehow. I also produced, sang, rapped, wrote and did all the artwork for the project, so I feel like it’s even more hands on than anything I’ve done in the past.”
(…) “I’ve always loved fusing live instrumentation with my music,” explains ProbCause. “I work with a lot of really talented musicians in Chicago so it was a very organic thing to involve them in the production process. Will Miller from a band called the O'My’s plays horns on a lot of the songs and really helped take the album to another level.”
“I’m a very collaborative person so the more musicians involved the better,” he continues. “I had a list of producers that I had met and become friends with while playing at some festivals last summer and I knew if I could get them all together on one project I could create a really unique sound.”
