About “Tardive Dyskinesia”

Tardive Dyskinesia is an EP by Rozz Dyliams released on April 27th, 2020 on the streaming service Soundcloud, later being released on May 2nd, 2020 on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, and YouTube. Accompanying the EP’s six tracks is two hand-drawn album covers by Michael Shantz, also known as GrimJob, who has previously created other album artwork for Rozz such as; ‘Epiphania’, ‘Jeck’, ‘A Killer With a Crooked Jaw'and ’The Relic‘.
The EP features production from Cryst, Slavery, JaguarClaw, Lederrick, PrettyHeartBreak, Cavy, and Rozz Dyliams himself.

The EP’s title is referring to Tardive dyskinesia (TD), an involuntary neurological movement disorder brought on by side-effects from long time use of certain anti-psychotic and gastro-intestinal medications. The disorder can cause the sufferer to experience symptoms of involuntary movements such as facial grimacing, sticking out the tongue, sucking or fish-like movements of the mouth. In some cases, this disorder can also affect the person’s arms and legs causing involuntary rapid, jerking movements, or slow, writhing movements.

The word ‘Tardive’ means delayed or appearing late. This is in reference to the aforementioned neurological disorder mainly showing signs developing after you’ve been taking particular medications for a long period of time but could also be inferred as a comment about the EP itself potentially having been delayed either physically from release, or mentally from creativity for one reason or another.
The word ‘Dyskinesia’ means to have abnormal or unusual movements, a prevalent theme throughout the EP and Rozz' music as a whole, (though more-so in an artistic and not literal sense).
