About “The Ozymandias EP”

Saba’s 3rd project titled “The Ozymandias EP”. The name comes from a poem by an english romantic poet named Percy Bysshe Shelley in 1818. This EP was supposed to be the last project before he made his “COMFORTZone” album but he decided to release his “GETCOMFORTable mixtape in 2012 and then releasing his "COMFORTZone” LP in 2014. Saba released this EP while in his music group named “The Rally Camp” Which featured other rappers like Saba’s older brother “Joseph Chilliams” and their Friends like “MFNMelo” and “Frsh Waters”. On January 3rd 2012 Saba and Joseph Chilliams released a song titled “Pop Culture” which featured the lyrics spoken by Joseph, “Moving couches call us that Pivot Gang” where he got from an episode of the TV show “Friends” where they are moving a couch up a staircase and are yelling “Pivot!!”.

This was the birth of the Pivot Gang created by friends Joseph Chilliams and Frsh Waters and later joined by Saba, MFnMelo, “John Walt” and, even later by producer and Frsh Waters brother “SqueakPivot” and, “DaeDaePivot”. Pivot Gang went on to release Their first mix tape “Jimmy” in 2013 named after Frsh Waters’s real name as he was arrested in 2013 and sentenced prison time to be later released in 2017. After the Jimmy mixtape the group took a long hiatus to pursue their own solo works like Saba building up a good name in hip-hop releasing “COMFORTZone” in 2014, “Bucket List Project” in 2016 and, his successful “Care For Me” album in 2018. In 2017 member John Walt was killed and became a big topic on Saba’s Care For Me album. In 2018 the group started linking up again to create their debut album “You Can’t Sit With Us” which released in 2019.
