Persona

Persona is the third album from Belgian artist Selah Sue. It explores different genres such as soul, hip-hop, jazz, R&B, pop, or electro, which is coherent with the direction of the album: in psychology, a “Persona” is the version of ourselves that we present to the world depending on the social situation, so each individual has several personas different from their authentic self. In this album, Selah Sue sings each song from a different facet of her personnality: the confident one on Kingdom, the fighter on Wanted You to Know, the hedonist in Celebrate, the mother in Full of Life, etc.

Selah Sue has been very vocal about dealing with mental health issues ever since her first album Selah Sue in 2011. In Persona, she tells us how she finally overcame her depression and social anxiety through therapy after years of drowning under anti-depressants and made peace with the different sides of her personality.
