About “Complex Simplicity”

Released on August 10, 2004, Complex Simplicity is the debut album from singer/songwriter Teedra Moses. The US version of the album had 14 tracks, 12 of which were produced by Paul Poli. The UK release had two extra tracks not released in the US: “Doin' You” (also produced by Poli), as well as “Still Your Girl”, the unofficial remix to “Be Your Girl”, with additional vocals provided by Raphael Saadiq, Truth Hurts, and Scipio. The latter track also samples the 1983 Mtume single “Juicy Fruit” and interpolates “Juicy” by The Notorious B.I.G.

The tracks “Take Me” and “You Better Tell Her” were produced by Raphael Saadiq and rapper and Hip Hop producer Lil Jon respectfully.

Complex Simplicity was called “compelling” by music critics, and described by Allmusic as “the best R&B album of 2004—if not the best pop-oriented R&B album since CrazySexyCool”.
