Antimai

The Dear Hunter

About “Antimai”

Antimai is the first full-length concept album in The Dear Hunter’s new world, “The Indigo Child”, which was kicked off with a short film, two singles and a soundtrack EP in 2021.

This is a completely dystopic world, where we see capitalism arriving at its natural conclusion. It is a place where control and inequality have reached unimaginable heights, with greed and exploitation from the upper classes becoming commonplace.

“Antimai” is the final city in this world, the last remaining civilization of humanity. Outside its walls lie the unknown – whether the rest of this world has been destroyed, made uninhabitable or hostile is unclear, but the fact remains that all citizens of Antimai are too scared to leave, and dependent of whatever resources the city offers.

This album serves as an atlas of this last metropolis, covering its social hierarchy from the outside in. Depicted in the album cover is the city with its “Rings”, which divide the citizens according to their status in society.

Antimai is a significant leap forward for the band in terms of their sound, where they tackle what they’re referring to as “space funk”, alongside notable jazz influences, but never losing sight of the band’s characteristic sound and appeal.
