About “Crossroads”

Crossroads is folk/R&B singer Tracy Chapman’s sophomore album, and followup to her 6x platinum self titled debut.

Although she chose not to diversify her signature acoustic sound and layout, it was her first time working as a producer. She also collaborated with longtime associate David Kershenbaum for production.

The lead promotional single for the album, “Crossroads”, debuted at no.7 on the Billboard Modern Rock charts and achieved heavy acclaim.

The album itself charted at 26 on the Billboard 200 and stayed there for 7 weeks. It is certified platinum in the US and although this sequel did not receive as much critical reception as her first, it still is one of the more recognizable works in her extensive discography.
