A Jazzman’s Blues (Soundtrack From the Netflix Film)

This is the soundtrack to Tyler Perry’s romantic tragedy about the forbidden love between an upcoming jazz singer (Joshua Boone) and a light-skinned Black woman (Solea Pfeiffer) who is passing for white. The story is largely set in the years following World War II, so the songs are mostly from this period, though the album also contains selections from Aaron Zigman’s score and Ruth B.’s original song “Paper Airplanes.”
