The soundtrack album for Shainee Gabel’s 2004 film contains a great deal of Dixieland jazz and Delta blues, appropriate to the movie’s setting in New Orleans and its story about a teenager (Scarlett Johansson) who travels to the city after her mother’s death and bonds with a professor (John Travolta) who knew her mother. The album contains two tracks by Travolta as well as two more by Grayson Capps, the son of Ronald Capps, whose novel served as the basis for the film.
