The film, a fictional time travel piece set in 1969 and 2017, is a message and portrayal of the importance of the Áo dài – the country’s national dress. It follows the story of Như Ý–the daughter and successor of áo dài tailor Thanh Nu’s Thanh Mai. Như Ý, who is considered the beauty and trendmaker of 1960 Sài Gòn, is not interested in the family business, and instead wants to focus on modern, western clothing. Because of her family business' prestige and of her own success, Như Ý is seen as ungrateful, selfish, arrogant, and bratty. By chance, she is transported 48 years into the future and is forced to come face to face with her own consequences and attempts to fix both her past and her future.
