Fear, Anxiety & Depression

Fear, Anxiety & Depression is a feature-length comedy film written and directed by Todd Solondz. Solondz himself wrote lyrics for three original songs in the film. No soundtrack album was ever released; the numbering in the tracklist reflects the order in which the songs are listed in the end credits of the film.

Fear, Anxiety & Depression was Solondz' first feature, and the first project he worked on under the strictures of a film studio. He was so distressed by the company’s changes and interference that he retired from the film industry.

Serendipitously, an opportunity arose in the mid-1990s to make an independent film. He already had several drafts of a screenplay, written some years earlier. The film, Welcome to the Dollhouse, went on to win the Grand Jury Prize at the 1996 Sundance Film Festival, and restarted Solondz' filmmaking career.
