Flex Your Head Tracklist

About “Flex Your Head”

Flex Your Head was the first ever LP release by Dischord Records. It compiles a variety of tracks from bands that had existed around the Washington, D.C. hardcore punk scene between 1980 and 1982, including several early on in the album’s track listing that had already disbanded by the time the LP was released.

The first pressings of Flex Your Head used stock album covers (the “waving wheat” design [seen in the header above] and the “violin and chair” design [seen below]) that were custom-modified by the pressing plant Dischord used at the time.

A UK pressing of the album done by Alternative Tentacles Records used a black and white cover modifying the Washington D.C. flag design with straight-edge X’s instead of the original’s stars.

A 1985 reissue featured a blurry black and white photo taken by Beefeater vocalist (and former Red C drummer) Tomas Squip.

All four cover designs were used in a special four-panel insert on all CD editions of the album.

A more recent reissue of the album features the D.C. straight-edge flag design, only with a red and white cover.
