Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedlic Era, 1965-1968

One of the most important and influential compilations in music history, the original Nuggets was the first major collection of underground music ever released, spawning many imitators and birthing a series of other Nuggets issues. It was incredibly popular among the burgeoning punk rock scene, whose sound would be shaped by the garage rock and psychedelic sounds on this album.

It was put together by Lenny Kaye and released by Elektra records, and its liner notes featured one of the first coinages of the term “punk rock.” It was later named among Rolling Stone magazine’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
