This is the soundtrack album for the film that many people consider to be the greatest musical film ever made, Stanley Donen and Gene Kelly’s 1952 movie about a Hollywood star (Kelly) during the silent era as the film industry transitions into sound films. As the film is set in Hollywood 1927, during the beginning of talkies, it is a showcase of songs that composer Nacio Herb Brown and the film’s producer Arthur Freed wrote for MGM during the 1920s and 1930s.
