The Baldwin Partbooks Tracklist

About “The Baldwin Partbooks”

The Baldwin Partbooks are musical scores dating to 1575. They are named for John Baldwin, a singer in St. George’s Chapel Windsor who copied out religious music by contemporary and historical composers. They are a prime source for English religious music dating back before the Protestant Reformation.

The tenor part of these scores is missing, though some selections here have had their parts reconstructed. Sheppard’s “Laudem dicite Deo” is both Number 7 and Number 25 in this album, as the words and music to both selections is identical.
