The Hoffnung Music Festival Concert

This album was recorded live at London’s Royal Albert Hall on November 13, 1956 for the occasion of the Hoffnung Music Festival. This evening was devised by cartoonist Gerard Hoffnung, who asked several composers to write funny pieces of classical music. The success of this concert spawned two more sequels, though Hoffnung’s death at age 34 from a cerebral hemorrhage stopped the series' momentum.
