Celebrating more than four decades since the release of Split Enz’s canonical 1980 studio album True Colours, a bevvy of Australasian talents have recorded fresh takes on the Finn Brothers' multi-platinum opus on True Colours, New Colours. Aotearoa artists reimagining the record’s classic tunes include power-pop champs The Beths putting their own amped up spin on ‘What’s The Matter With You’, Chelsea Jade making a splash with her woozy ‘Shark Attack’, Shihad delivering a new wavey fuzzed-out ‘I Got You’, Stan Walker’s enjoyably reggae-tinged rendition of ‘Poor Boy’ (“You’re looking at an interplanetary Romeo”), and a rare appearance from Ladyhawke, performing a pulsing version of the synthy ‘I Wouldn’t Dream Of It’.
