About “Wipeout Pure: The Official Soundtrack”

The soundtrack to the 2005 video game Wipeout Pure, this album is an eclectic mix of breakbeat, acid house, and drum and bass. In keeping with Wipeout tradition, almost every track (excluding “Twister” and “Flu Shot”) was premiered exclusively through the game, though many saw independent release in the years following.

Notable names include electronic veteran Aphex Twin, Paul Hartnoll of Orbital fame, and English Breakbeat duo Stanton Warriors. CoLD SToRAGE (Tim Wright) was once a full-time musician for Wipeout until 1997, asked to create a track for Wipeout Pure. Most other artists were popular producers in the breakbeat genre at the time.

The three final tracks, “Saxtrax,” “Pulse Of Life (Edit),” and “Zulu (Let It All Out)” were not included in the game, instead they are bonus tracks included by the soundtrack’s label, Distinctive Records.
