About “Yessongs”

Yessongs is the first live album by Yes, released as a triple album in May 1973 on Atlantic Records.

Yessongs begins with Opening (Excerpt from ‘Firebird Suite’), a piece of the closing section to the orchestral work The Firebird (1910) by Russian composer Igor Stravinsky. Yes have used the piece as the introductory music to most of their concerts since 1971, the year of the composer’s death. The track segues into Siberian Khatru from Close to the Edge.

The album featured new drummer Alan White, but two tracks (Perpetual Change, Long Distance Runaround / The Fish) had been previously recorded during the Fragile album tour, and so they featured the drummer Bill Bruford.
