Actually clever! As most know, CM Punk is straight edge and has the Pepsi logo tattooed on his right arm as a reminder to the world that he doesn’t drink alcohol. This move of his another ode to his life choice. The clever part comes in with the “twist”. The move itself is combination of a hammerlock and short-range lariat, Punk “twists” the two moves together to combine them. Much like when Pepsi released their Pepsi Twist which was standard Pepsi cola “twisted” with lime.

In a lengthy conversation between RG’s 6x and Sean himself, this song was brought up and here’s a quick excerpt from the discussion:

6x: Liquid Courage, are you slurring a little? Or am I imagining?
Sean: I made sure not to be sober when I recorded that. [Its] all one take to keep it genuine too.

6x: You sound more emotional, maybe even teary eyed.
Sean: Rappers love rapping to girls, but talking is like a cheat code [laughs]. I was laughing, if you hear the first line, I laugh. The girl was actually in the studio and I was talking to her over the song [laughs] while I recorded and then I added laughs, and voices, and feels, to make it more of a sonic experience than anything else. You got it right on the money, it’s condescending. It’s arrogant, but playful, it’s when the power shifts in a relationship and you now have the upperhand.

6x: So is this girl in the song’s story a relationship, a habitual booty call?
Sean: [Laughs] That’s awesome, habitual booty call. The guy who made this project was so anti-relationships. I listen back and I don’t even know who I am anymore [laughs].

An excerpt from the discussion between RG’s own 6x and Sean Leon himself in regards to “Firestorm”

Sean: “I set myself on fire from burning all these bridges, and now my world’s on fire, and I’m just burning with it” That’s isolation. This is the first example of narcissism as a condition. Being unable to swallow my pride, resulted to a lot of bridges being burned.

6x: So where does the girl come into play with the isolation?
Sean: Making it difficult, setting my entire world on fire, and leaving me alone to burn with it. The loneliness that the girl pulls from that same loneliness again. Just a different perspective. I thought it was necessary to tackle it from two different angles.

6x: Is she crying because she sees what you’re doing to yourself, or her lack of assistance?
Sean: Those but also, her inability to love me, because I hate myself. Which is why I’d mask my insecurity with these grandiose egotistical ploys. Those insecurities get touched on The City 2, Elephant Graveyard and the bonus song 100 shots

As told by Sean himself, the first verse was a conversation he had with a girl and the misrepresentation of our generation. In an interview with Sean, he discusses the title a bit more.

First verse was literally a convo I had with a girl I was messing with at the time, I just felt like our generation is misrepresented – Sean Leon
