Playa Hamm also from the LA area and grew up around Quik, was part of the Penthouse Players Clique that helped jumpstart Quik’s career. Hamm has been with Quik before he had a record deal and they still have a healthy relationship to this day.

One half of the group “2nd II None” (on the left). Grew up as Pirus with Quik in LA. They have worked together on and off for nearly 20 years but Quik and D have had a few falling outs(not during this album though).

AMG is another rapper from LA who grew up around Quik and became close friends with him. AMG style rivals Too Short for most graphic rapper as he specializes in rapping about sexual encounters.

Ignorance’s wife, Deceit, died from the explosion that occurred when she tried to cut the Prophet’s hair.

Ignorance has more wives in the figurative sense that one can encounter ignorance through several branches of evil. Jeru conquered deceit in the sense of not being fooled by anyone and everyone and never compromised his integrity (barbershop) by thinking it will help him in the long run, and never trusted things on the surface. The library is supposed to teach you but you learn only what is in the books, which isn’t always necessarily true.

The Set Up Nas (Ft. Havoc) – The Set Up

“The Set Up” depicts a narrative of Nas' quest for revenge after his friend is murdered. Not a single or song that was created for the radio especially with Havoc laying the instrumental. But this song along with “The Message” and “Street Dreams” seem to be songs Tupac attacked him for for fabricating stories and copying his life (in addition to working with Stretch and Dr. Dre).

Nas told Complex:

I must admit, I said something stupid on that record. I was high and I changed words around and I said a word on there that didn’t make sense. I didn’t realize it until the album was mastered. But I won’t put a spotlight on it, I’m not going to tell you what it was. The word makes sense but it didn’t make sense on what I said I was doing. and I meant to say a different word and I overthought it, I was thinking too much.

Nas' flub is most likely on the second verse when he points out that Rhamel is in a Range Rover, but then contradictorily says later that he jumps out of a Jeep.

Nas: “That was Havoc. I love Havoc’s tracks. I wanted to work with Havoc by any means. I was trying to get a lot of tracks from Havoc and I wound up with two. I was just trying to work fast, I wrote that up real fast because I was trying to get so much done with him but he had his own projects to work on.

“I wrote that up and was looking for more and more tracks from him but we only got one more from him, ‘Live Nigga Rap.’ I wanted more and I never got those other ones. I was happy to get what I got. I put everything I got from Havoc on the album.
