Dummy packs is like fake crack or fake anything. Once you run out of work or it’s a drought, you’ve got to fend for yourself. So that’s when you start putting the Ivory soap in there making it look like little pieces of crack inside the, you know, doing your thing.

Oh my god, the Harlem picnics used to be so crazy. You had to go because that’s where all the girls was, the music, and everybody was coming out fly. But it was a danger zone all the time. You couldn’t go to a Harlem picnic without losing a shoe or somebody airing it out. We call it airing it out, somebody just pull out a gun and just start shooting in the sky. You see a bunch of kids running around with book bags on and canes and shit like that. You already know they came to fuck the party up because the way they got girls was showing off their guns. They was the bad guys. But, once you seen them dudes with the book bags, you already knew like, that’s dumb, all right, we out of here. But, you can’t even leave for too long because it was so lit. That’s where all the girls was, so you had to come right back. You know they was going to start shooting.

The last piece I got done with Ben would probably have to be my hood pope chain, which got different color stones in it. I got the infamous Yamborghini piece, the bull with the horns, and the Hermes link with the diamonds in it.

“Plain Jane” means when you ain’t got no diamonds or nothing in it. This represents class to me without all of the diamonds and everything in it. It does have baguettes on the inside of it. When you keep it plain Jane, or OG or somebody that’s very classic, they be like, “Oh, yeah, he didn’t …” You kept the stock rims on your car, that’s what it’s like. You didn’t have to throw the spinners and all of the trinkets on it to make it stand out. You ruin a watch that way. It’s like you buy a car and you just fuck it up with everything else. You buy it stock and keep it that way. The only diamonds that you’ll see on my watch is the ones that come with the watch.

When you add diamonds on to your watch, you lower the value of it. This is like an investment. If I ever go broke, I could really just trade this in and I’ll be good. But once you add the diamonds and you start flooding it out, it just ruins the art. It’s like taking a Picasso and just saying, “You know what, I think I should add green on it.” You don’t need to do none of that. You keep that Picasso the way it is.

I’m not Muslim. My grandfather was Muslim, but I’m not Muslim. It was just another way to say all praise go to god. At the end of the day, there’s one God, right? There’s one energy.

That line is so hard. That line is one my hardest lines I feel like, just because just starting the joint off like that is crazy. It’s like giving all praise to Yams, getting the blessings from him before I just demolish all of these rappers. That’s how I feel. Yeah, Yams had that aura with him. He was iconic. The iconic tattoos, the face tats, before everybody started getting the face tats. He was very confident in is swag and how he maneuvered. Yams was one of those dudes before his time because he studied history. I feel like history always come back in tenfold, what goes around, comes around. He knew that so he was a student of it. He had a lot of knowledge of it. By the time we came out, we already was ahead of the game because he already got all the knowledge.

It was crazy, because when I first started rapping and going on the road and everything like that, my mother didn’t know what I was doing really. She just like, “Oh, you dropped out of college, you’re not working right now, and you’re talking about you want to be a rapper.” I stopped telling her what I was doing and just I was going at it. I was like, you know what, I’m just going to have to prove to her that this is working out for me.

We wasn’t as tight as we are now, but this is around the time I went on BET for something. I think I went on there with Rocky to receive an award he got, and my mother … I remember me coming back home and she was in the bathroom crying. I’m like, “Ma, what are you crying for?” She’s like, “I got to find out from my friends you’re on BET. How do you expect me to feel?” I was like, “Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t even mean to do that.” When I won my award, which was rookie of the year, I gave it to her.

No rappers ever really came at me on some rap shit. I come from a battle background, a battling spirit. That’s why these words seem so potent. It’s like so much behind these words, because we was doing it for pure sport. It wasn’t like we was getting rich off the 16s we was writing. We was just doing it to go to different neighborhoods and express our thoughts and be mad loud and embarrass our opponent. That’s we do. That’s what I am. I’m a battle rapper, and I just feel like nobody ever brought it to me like that. I’m just waiting. I’m just sitting here waiting. It’s only going to make me into another type of beast.

It’s a good play on words. As rappers, we always talk aspirational. You know what I’m saying, inspirational.

Reneezy, that’s my girl, so everybody got a shout out. That’s her friends. You know, she ain’t tripping. If it happened, it happened though. I wouldn’t be mad at it. That’s funny.

I just had to say that because it was like right there. It shows the hunger of me being in this zone. I’m not even messing with the chicks, nothing. I’m just in my zone. I’m not going out, I’m not doing nothing. By the time I come out the booth, when I come out the studio, I’m a beast. I haven’t been outside in days, so the first thing I see running, I’m like this … If it happen to be RiRi, she might get ate like a panini.

A little Get Out reference. Me, when I’m saying “sunken places,” it’s just like I’m in a sunken place with this music. I’m caught in a trance. Really, you know what I’m saying? I’m not watching TV, there’s no Instagram. I took Instagram off my phone. I took SnapChat off my phone. I took Twitter off my phone, just so I can have tunnel vision. I just wanted to get into the zone with music. When I was writing that, that was the state I was in.
