Yeah, gotta say what's up to my nigga Slick Rick Lodi Dodi by Snoop Dogg

Slick Rick — one of the most influential Golden Era rappers — was known for his storytelling style of rap. This song is a cover of his 1985 classic with Doug E Fresh, “La Di Da Di”.

For those interested in intellectual property law, “La Di Da Di” was one of the first cases to bring up the now-established Fair Use defense of its sampling.

I get to zoning: me and this chick on the L and then we're boning

Take one more toke and I leave that weed alone, man
Feelin' It by Jay Z (Ft. Mecca)

He gets high with a girl an L is a blunt/joint and they have sex he loses his inhibitions and moans out of pleasure he smokes a bit more and decides that he is high enough.
Duh muthafucka!

Double Entendre again: The L is the train and the spliff that both he and the chick are on…

Alex
May 14th, 2014

I think he says “island”, not only because it’s what I hear but also because I don’t think he would be “Feelin' It” if he was boning a chick on the L train.

Also, if you listen closely to the video version, he clearly says “Me and this chick on an island…”. Finally, in the video, he is on vacation, on what seems to be an island, which makes sense.

I think he’s saying that he’s high, and has a vision of him with a woman on an island having sex with her, not smoking an ‘L’ with her. He moans like he’s having sex, but then realizes that he’s not, and decides he needs to stop smoking because of the hallucination.

The L is a train that connects Brooklyn and Manhattan. Pretty sure that’s what him and “this chick” are on.

To all the girls that bought a girdle to conceal my bricks Feelin' It by Jay Z (Ft. Mecca)

Girls would transport Jay’s kilos of cocaine by putting on a girdle and constructing a “cocaine baby” underneath their blouses

Women transporting drugs for their rapper boyfriends is a certified rap meme

Making sure every nigga stay rich within my cipher Feelin' It by Jay Z (Ft. Mecca)

A “cipher” is a group of rappers standing in a circle and freestyling; it can also metonymically refer to your group of “rap homies”

Jay tries to take care of everyone in his cipher. This is not simply an altruistic inclination on Jay’s part, it is the street version of the old saying that “a chain is only as strong as its weakest link…” If everyone is well off, the group as a whole succeeds

And then you die, but for now, life, close your eyes and feel this dick Feelin' It by Jay Z (Ft. Mecca)

This is a reference to Nas’s “Life’s A Bitch” off Illmatic. He is telling “life” to feel his dick, because he is saying “Fuck life”. Also suggesting that until he dies he’s going to make the most of life while he still has the chance

[Interlude: Radio Interview]
(You know what speaking of Jay
That just makes me roll down
Now your song Westside Story)
Uh Oh
(You got a line that says
"I don't do button up shirts
Or drive Maybachs"
Is that a shot at Jay?)
Nah, I was talking about Ja Rule
Yeah, so, yeah, I got a lot of respect for Jay
You know what I'm saying
I never take shots at legends
I just, that's just something I don't do
The Documentary by Game

This is an excerpt from a radio interview Ed Lover conducted with Game

This is the line Ed is referring to:

And I don’t do button up shirts or drive Maybachs

However, later on in his career in 2009, Game went after Jay in “I’m So Wavy” and “Uncle Otis”.

And really the fact is, we not in the same bracket
Not in the same league, don't shoot at the same baskets
Don't pay the same taxes, hang with the same bitches
So how am I in the way, what is it I'm missing?
Already Home by Jay Z (Ft. Kid Cudi)

He’s on such a higher plane than these other rappers that they aren’t even able to do what he does. Even if he retired it wouldn’t help them: he’s not in their way, he’s playing a different game than they are

Notice the double entendre on “bracket” — if this were the NCAA, other rappers wouldn’t be in the same bracket as Jay in the tournament. If this were tax season, however, they wouldn’t be in the same tax bracket (“March Madness” –> “April Madness”)

My - coochie remains in a Gucci name Can I Get A... by Jay Z (Ft. Amil & Ja Rule)

Coochie/Gucci is a facile rhyme, too (see Biggie’s version)…but it works well (again!)

Girls were fond of collectively belting this line out in the club when this song was hot

Can I Get A... by Jay Z (Ft. Amil & Ja Rule)

Girls don’t want a rich guy; they just want a guy who can carry them through level 2 of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs™

If I wasn't a eight-figga nigga by the name of Jigga Can I Get A... by Jay Z (Ft. Amil & Ja Rule)

The “figga nigga Jigga” rhyme is facile, but works well in the line; “Jigga” is Jay-Z’s nickname

Jay-Z’s net worth is ~$150 million (9 figures), which makes him the 17th richest black American, according to Forbes (Oprah is by far the richest, clocking in at $2.7B/350 lbs)
