These lines detail Denzel’s plans to rob a bank.

  • First, he loads and cocks his glock.
  • Then, he puts on the mask, or “Ghostface” in order to conceal his identity as he empties the bank of it’s “cream”, or money (Notice the Wu-Tang Clan wordplay here as well, with references to Ghostface Killah and the Wu classic C.R.E.A.M).

This is a salute to Jamaican reggae singer Buju Banton. Buju sang a similar line in his hit song, Boom Bye Bye:.

Boom bye bye in a batty boy head
Rude boy no promote no nasty man, them haffi dead

^Can be paraphrased as:

I’ll shoot a faggot.
Real niggas don’t fuck with gays – they have to die.

The song is something of an anti-gay anthem and garnered much criticism from Jamaica and the worldwide LGBT community. Buju Banton was actually banned from Britain, the ban was perpetuated by Gay Rights.

Earl Sweatshirt’s mom antagonized Tyler before Earl was sent to Samoa for boarding school. Here, Tyler reminds her that he paved the way for Earl to be successful, or “eat”

Tyler again re-affirms this in an interview

Earl has a deep respect for Tyler, and views him as a big brother figure as stated in his song, Chum:

Searching for a big brother, Tyler was that
Plus he liked how I rap

This is a sarcastic allusion to the criticism he has received for his satanic, deviant lyrics. He’s also poking fun at the common misconception that all atheists are satanists. They are entirely different religious labels.

Just because Tyler does not believe in a deity doesn’t mean that he worships the devil. But, here he’s like, “Why not be both an atheist and satanist for the hell of it?”

More than the fact that atheists don’t worship Satan, they don’t believe that Satan exists. So the idea of Tyler worshiping Satan to him is absurd.

  1. To be nettled is to be annoyed or irritated. Many of Earl’s critics have become borderline annoyed with his violent imagery and deviant lyrics, labeling him a “one-trick-pony” who can only rap to shock.
  2. Stinging Nettle, a type of plant, is toxic, and can irritate the skin of a human who comes in contact with it.
  3. Bezzle is slang for ecstasy. Earl plans to get his critics high off of ecstacy/lyrics (obviously not nettle, hence “wrong”) until they die (“dead”). Bezzle is also slang for Ketamine.
  4. Finally, these critics are dead wrong in their assessments of Earl’s abilities. Kelefa Sanneh said in a newyork.com article that earl’s lyrics ‘are designed to nettle cosmopolitan listeners’. By using the word ‘nettled’, its a subtle dig back at this particular critic.

Homonym on multiple meanings of the word “stick”.

The thought-provoking punchlines make you stick around; similarly, Viagra (“blue”) pills will increase your dick size.

Also a reference to The Matrix. The blue pill would allow Neo to stick around in the fabricated reality, while the red pill would lead to his escape into the “real world.”

Given the manga in the last line, might be a nod to Goku’s power pole in Dragon Ball, a stick that grows bigger and bigger as you use it…
