“After the Storm” is the despairing cry of a man who is at the end of his rope, but is not willing to give up hope:

“And I won’t die alone, and be left there.”

But in “Not With Haste,” we see the conclusion of his story. He had held onto the hope that love would not break his heart, and now he’s found that to be true. He’s found freedom.

“Not With Haste” is a companion song to “After The Storm” from their previous album, Sigh No More. There are multiple similarities in the lyrics, and both songs come at the end of their respective albums (excluding the deluxe edition, of course).

In “After The Storm,” the writer has come to the end of himself. Whatever you interpret “the storm” as the point is that he’s at the end of his rope. He’s on his knees, broken. But he has determined not to abandon hope for himself.

Here’s the official announcement of the sonic upgrade – when the title track from Sigh No More hit your speakers, it never sounded poor, but it didn’t sound like it was being performed live in your living room, the way Babel does.

Hotel Yorba, located in downtown Detroit, isn’t as nice as this song’s melody would lead you to believe. “DO NOT TRY THIS PLACE” wrote one Yahoo Travel reviewer. Well, that would explain why “all they got inside is vacancy.”

“There was a great rumor when I was a kid that the Beatles had stayed there. They never did, but I loved that rumor,” said Jack White.
