Here lauryn starts the second verse with the same line as in the first verse. Touching on Consumerism once again. perhaps in an effort to drive home her main focus.

Consumerism – the concept that an ever-expanding consumption of goods is advantageous to the economy.

In economics, Consumerism refers to economic policies placing emphasis on consumption.

This line implies that a consumerism lifestyle is infecting people like a cancerous tumor, that will continue to grow and grow until it is eventually the demise of anyone that indulges in such a lifestyle.

Alcoholism

The addiction to the consumption of alcohol, or a mental illness and cumpulsive behavior resulting from alcoholic dependence.

Another one of the many issues that collectively plague america as an estimated two-thirds of the American population consumes alcohol, but half of all the alcohol consumed in the country is consumed by only 10 percent of drinkers.

Using someone’s face for target practice is a sign of disrespect whether it’s uncalled for, or well founded. It is often done out of malice toward an adversary.

In this case though, Em also uses it as a metaphor for how well his enemies fair against him. Anyone who dares to oppose Em is either as flimsy as a picture that’s just waiting to be ripped, or simply a target for Eminem to shoot at, they’re sitting ducks.

Em had completely destroyed any competition that dared to step to him, and as a result, he has scared away anyone else that may have thought of jumping in the ring with him ,so to speak. There’s no more victims to sic. The word Sic is used in lieu of Attack, like in the command you might give a dog, “Sic'em boy!”

Now he is getting bored, and is thinking about breaking his own rule, and starting shit with someone, just for the hell of it. This notion might have been more apparent than ever in a line from the song Monkey See, Monkey Do where he basically dares Nas or Jay to come at him!

I pray for the day That someone who spits with the caliber
That Nas and Jay does, Opens up his jaw to say somethin'
Or rattle my name off, Or rattle the first thing
From the top of his brain off
So I can blow the fucking dust off of this chainsaw
And give him the surgery that he came for

Interestingly enough, neither Nas or Jay took the bait, and when you think about it….who in their right mind would?

Here Eminem is sort of laying out a lesson to all other rappers on how to successfully win a war in Hip-Hop. If there’s one person rappers should take that lesson from, It’s Eminem!

With his extensive history of crushing people in industry beefs, and extremely phenomenal DISScography There’s really no other rapper that is as experienced as Em when it comes to diss records.

He also states “In order to master the art of war, don’t start a war” A reference to The Art Of War. He iterated this at the beginning of The Sauce

I just want the whole world to know, that I did not start this….But I WILL finish it"

Existence is a cycle, so the end is never near

Peek into my subconscious, sickest shit you’ll ever hear

Light from the chandelier, bout as fractured as my soul

soul full of hate, for obstacles detouring my goal

on the brink of stardom or destruction?, either way I’m gonna blow!

but in the end, I make em disappear they are no more

Here Em tells us that timing is the most important thing if you want to be successful. This concept can really apply to anything in life though.

But in Em’s case, he’s refering to rapping and more specifically the beefs he’s had throughout his career. He’s one of the best, if not the best when it comes to beefing. He really doesn’t lose as explained by another good diss battler The Game in the video below.

If there’s one rapper that you can say, strategically and methodically puts their rhymes together, it’s EMINEM! He has been hailed as the greatest rhymer in rap history by many. He has executed some of the most complex rhyme schemes ever seen. See the first verse of Til I Collapse

The criminal cop-killing hip hop villain
A minimal swap to cop millions of Pac listeners

The above line from Til I Collapse contains 18 syllables that rhyme with another, (YOU WANNA TALK ABOUT MULTIS!) That’s 18 syllables in one line. This feat does not happen by accident, this is the work of a master.

Master of the Rhyme.

It is true, everyone does have haters, even those with smallest amounts of success. Get a compliment from your boss at work? It’s guaranteed that there’s coworker not too far away looking like

Here he also references the relationship between Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. A relationship in which some believe that Malcolm X may have been a little envious of MLK’s popularity, because they had differing views on how the civil rights movement should have been handled, as depicted in the video below.

Here the “writer” or “JOURNALIST” implies that Eminem hasn’t already completely pushed the boundaries of the genre.

Taking a style of hip-hop that many hadn’t experienced in the slightest and putting it in the forefront of the mainstream, and blantantly smacking middle america in the face with it.

While also being the single most versatile rapper ever, as explained by Akon in the video below.

http://youtu.be/cHl9rOeJFVc?t=36s

On top of the types of records Akon mentioned, Em has also perfectly executed, Gangster rap records, Political protest records, and as a sidenote he is one of the best when it comes to Diss Records
