Most places nowadays have 6th grade as the entrance grade to middle school/junior high.

In addition, Wale is also referring to a 6-series Mercedes, perhaps the one referred to on his song “600 Benz”.

Going toward the point of walking blindly, Drake believes before things went downhill, he should have “looked up” for answers first. Now when he looks in his girl’s eyes, he can see the buildup of “fireworks” or strong emotions (whether rage &/or happiness)

Drake interprets fireworks to be a symbol of rapid success. Seeing as this song came after Drake dropped a string of successful mixtapes, EPs, and singles, it really must have felt like he was surrounded by fireworks.

This track begins with the implication that this girl wants drugs and sex, all of which Abel knows all too well.

Abel’s prepared to do both, as he usually is. He’s not going to stop her, as she knows what she wants, unless she wants him to do something differently. Being an adult and making the choice to stay with him, he won’t help her if she decides to back out.

The phrase “Bout it, bout it” could be a subtle nod to Master P’s “Bout it, Bout it 2.”

The outro and bridge are samples from “You’re Gonna Leave” by Martina Topley-Bird. “Sandpaper kisses” and blissful papercuts have one major thing in common: both are meant to be pleasureful, but end up painful.

Hedonism is explored elsewhere on this project, but these lines sum up The Weeknd’s hedonistic ventures well. Instead of netting more pleasure, Abel’s world typically ends in a painful picture.

In this story, he plays a game leading to him lying and leaving a girl that truly cares about him. Ironically, this has happened to him before. Birds are relatively free animals, and Abel is free as can be, flying toward his meal and then leaving it when he’s done to await the next one. He can’t be controlled or locked up; being “just a bird” is essentially being “just the epitome of freedom.”

This immediately follows “House of Balloons / Glass Table Girls”, where there was a lot of snorting drugs.

Towards the end of the previous track, there’s a point when Abel notes the time; the morning is approaching. When the sun comes up, the effects of the drugs would just begin to affect Abel and his girl.
