The fourth studio album by rapper Cassidy. It was released on November 16, 2010 on Kross Over Records and E1 Records. The album peaked at 9 on the US Billboard Rap Albums chart.

Cassidy recently explained the title of the album in an interview with MTV, also the title is an acronym that stands for Cass Always Stays Hard.

Excepting Game and Mya there are no famous names on C.A.S.H., the fourth album from Philadelphia rapper Cassidy. It’s the first time the 28-year-old has made an album without the help of Swizz Beats, the producer and impresario who launched Cassidy’s career. By refusing his usual support system, Cassidy wants to prove he can go it alone, and that C.A.S.H. is not a mainstream gambit, but rather a lean, mean album for the neighborhood boys. The program is chock full of heavy street anthems — the best among them are “Face 2 Face,” “Monsta Muzik” and “All Day All Night.” Traces of Swizzy’s influence can be heard on the skittering club beats of “One Shot,” “Drumma Bass” and “High Off Life,” the last of which is a superb fusion of club rap and dancehall styles. Even though they bear the imprint of his mentor, the songs on C.A.S.H. are not hollow knockoffs of outdated styles. On the contrary, “Drumma Bass” is wild and minimal all at once, one of the year’s outstanding beats. Ultimately, Cassidy’s greatest talent is buffing his street raps with mainstream polish, a skill that is felt to maximum effect on “Peace,” “Hate Me Or Love Me” and “Paper Up.”

The third studio album by rapper Cassidy. It was released under Full Surface Records and J Record. Before its release, XXL Magazine ranked the album the 10th most anticipated album of 2007. The album debuted at #10 on the Billboard 200 with 63,000 copies sold in the first week released. It sold 17,000 more copies during it’s second week.

The album was originally titled This Time Around, then it was changed to It Is What It Is and finally to B.A.R.S. The Barry Adrian Reese Story. Cassidy named the album B.A.R.S. after spending 8 months behind bars (in prison). B.A.R.S are also his initials, Barry Adrian Reese (Story).

This album has a bunch of songs talking about his life; like his relationship with God, his murder case, a few references to his car accident, his take on modern hip-hop, and more.

Barry Adrian Reese was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States on July 7th, 1982. He is a Christian.

His Music

Cassidy is best known for his great ability to freestyle, but also is use of literary devices, most notable; his multiple syllable rhymes, punchlines, metaphors, and similes… and the fact that he rap battled himself, twice!

Cassidy’s subject matter over the years have changed drastically. He used to mostly rap about street shit, but always had a pop side to him as well. As his first album, Split Personality is divided into three parts, two of them being street life related, and the other reflecting more of a pop side.

His second album I’m A Hustla, was no different. It had some pop music, and some street music… although a smaller concentration of pop music this time.

Going onto his third album, he made a drastic subject and style change. Before recording this album, Cassidy had been fighting a [murder charge], and he got into a [deadly car accident]. These two events changes Cassidy, and made him closer with God. So on his thrid album, B.A.R.S.: Barry Adrian Reese Story, he talks about his current life, like his murder case, his relationship with God and his growth and independence as a man. That isn’t to say he doesn’t throw in some street songs, or some pop songs, but this album takes a different approach. A more personal, and deep album for the most part.

Cassidy’s 4th studio album, C.A.S.H. was an album that seemed to take more of a pop side, but like all of his albums, there is still more then just pop. He talks about his view on violence as well, and some songs he just spits hard lines! He also has started getting in music production more, he was apart of 7/14 tracks on this album production wise.

How He Started

Having no real intentions of being a rapper, Cassidy first began rapping with cousins just to pass time, but a chance meeting with two MC’s from around the way, would alter his course. Unaware of how lyrically inclined he was, Cassidy hooked up and began rapping with rappers, Cal-Akbar, and Shiz Lansky, of Larsiny who saw this young rapper’s skills, incorporating him into the group.

Unknowingly taking his talent to the next level, Cassidy began battling other rappers on Philly’s radio station, 103.9FM, The Cipher, crowned him the Cipher Analyst, who set the bar so high, all other rappers were judged by his skills. This title earned him respect and credibility as on of Philly’s finest, but also made him a problem to all other rappers who tried to challenge those skills.

Throughout his life, he has faced many adversities, most notable his car accident, in which he spent time in a coma, and his murder case, which he elaborates on that in his song Innocent.

In mid 2012, President of Chick-fil-a stated his opinion on gay marriage;

I think we are inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say, ‘We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage,

To add to that, many Christian religions are also against gay marriage (Westboro Baptist Church probably the most well known), and Christmas is a Christian holiday.

So Nino is essentially say he will never slip or nothing because all the things he stated are/were essentially anti-gay. However, recently the same guy has befriended the gay community.

Due to the next line, we can tell this is an indirect diss at someone’s financial situation.

He states his money is long in the next line, and in this line, someone’s something is short, but we can figure out it’s about money, meaning they ain’t making as much money as they could, and they probably broke.

The simile should be pretty obvious, but to explain it anyway; a tee shirts sleeves are only long enough to go down a portion of ones arm (unless they get a 10XL T), while sweaters sleeves go all the way down to your wrists, or even longer.

A snubnosed revolver has a barrel length of fewer than three inches. It was a popular type of firearm with undercover police officers due to its compact size and ease of handling.

The .38 Special cartridge is noted for its fine accuracy and manageable recoil.

What that being said, this gun’s bullets are both highly accurate (squeeze through small spaces while being able to hide it while shooting), and the gun is easy to hide (squeeze through security and hide when shooting). Both of those relate to the squeeze through part.

The New York 6th sense is like a Cop Radar; the ability to know or sense when cops are near.

The sixth sense is probably a sense exclusive to one person, and one person only. All humans possess the other five senses, which are

  • Sight
  • Hearing
  • Smell
  • Taste
  • Touch

But the sixth sense is whatever that person’s special gift is, and is often a paranormal capability, such as seeing dead people, or in Styles case, the ability to know where cops are… but this probably just comes from his livelihood.
