From part one of his song “Analog”,

I’m just asking baby сould you meet me by the lake?
Said bring a towel, well baby meet me by the lake
Bathing suit is going down, shit just meet me by the lake
We could count the shooting stars, well could you meet me by the lake?

It is also referenced in “Translyvania”,

Bottom of the fucking lake, bottom of the fucking lake

The lake is in Camp Flog Gnaw, the summer camp referenced multiple times in Tyler’s second studio album Wolf, which took further the style of “Analog”.

Life in Compton is notoriously rough and violent. Kendrick acknowledges hip-hop’s positive role in his life. Using his passion for music, he has been able to escape an early death.

In fact, his love for hip-hop goes so deep, it is akin to the power of hypnosis: controlling of another’s body while freeing the mind and allowing it to access memories and thoughts buried deep in the subconscious.

The image of being trapped is also reminiscent of being locked in prison. Kendrick is enslaved to making music, while it simultaneously liberates his spirit. It could also be an allusion to JAY-Z’s “Can I Live”:

Lock my body, can’t trap my mind

Courtesy of the wise YouTuber chickenwityamz:

“This dude just addressed Self hatred(which could explain black women rocking blonde weaves, black men living life with no meaning and taking it out on society), ethnic inequality, racism in the media, obstruction of history of blacks in America in one song. I can’t think of any artist in the past decade that even attempted to talk these issues. People cling to the ignorance but they slept on this song.”

People try to rush to complete a task, but they don’t do it with quality, like rappers putting out songs everyday that all sound the same just to make a quick buck.

Another interpretation is that people always want their cut, or share, of something, but they want more than they deserve or need.

What comes up, has got to come down. Also, going with the next line, everyone has the same opportunities as one another. Rich man has more money than poor man today, but tomorrow the poor man may have more money than the rich man.

Also important to remember how the human condition weighs us all down with the universal processes of life [rising] and death [dropping]. We are all born into this extremely complicated and convoluted world and Lil b serves to remind us that we are all in this together at least in this single aspect thank you BasedGod.
