Poision = Colonialism, Corporatism.
A allusion to the African situation. As diamonds can mean African heroes (who result by fighting the “poison”). It’s also a reference to the diamond mining industry in Africa in countries such as Ivory Coast, where the business is pretty shady and violent.
To drink poison and vomit diamonds. Knaan says he puts himself in a bad situation or takes the blunt force something that could hurt him, in order to impart wisdom or Gems(diamonds) for the sake of his people.
Maybe a reference to martyrdom where one sacrifices himself for the greater good of his people. Maybe in public light or physically or spiritually.
Possibly a reference to being a Bohdisattva(in Mahayana Buddhism) a person who is able to reach nirvana but delays doing so out of compassion in order to save suffering beings.
In addition, miners in Africa are known to literally smuggle diamonds by swallowing them. It is a play on words!

This line could also be referencing how Africa is rich in natural resources, but many people there still don’t have food to eat. It is saying that you can’t eat diamonds, even though they are considered very valuable. And the poison that they drink could just mean the bad quality of food for poor people in Africa, or it could represent the dirty, unsafe water many Africans drink.
