Hov compares his days of selling drugs on the corners of Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, to the play style of All-Pro NFL cornerback Josh Norman.

Norman plays one-on-one against wide receivers, similar to Jay’s battle with the streets. His preference of “dying enormous” over “living dormant” has resulted in a life in the fast lane, first as a hustler and crime figure, then as a “rock star” and hip-hop personality.

“No safety” could also mean Jay’s weapon was ready to fire, uninhibited. He was alone on the streets, with no law enforcement or big crew to back him up. He’s applied this technique to his business career, taking risks (like buying Tidal) with his own money. In that regard, he’s outperformed his competition, just as Josh Norman does regularly.

“No safety help” is also a football reference. When a wide receiver goes deep the safety normally comes to help the corner cover the receiver but Jay isn’t normal, he doesn’t need the help.

Director Quentin Tarantino’s movies are known for their violent, overly bloody action scenes. Similarly, Aminé wants to skip talking and get straight to the action.

There are also references to Tarantino in the music video for “Caroline.” Aminé sports a shirt featuring the poster of Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction, and delivers his lines in front of the “Big Kahuna Burger,” a restaurant that often appears within Tarantino’s cinematic universe.

Aminé could also being saying he wants to “get up in her guts.”

Future is being sued for over $10 million by fellow Atlanta rapper Rocko due to Future allegedly breaking the rules of a contract and not paying Rocko for commission and royalties. Future isn’t worried about these allegations due to having a Jewish lawyer, who are stereotypically viewed as being great attorneys.

Future and Rocko go way back, as explained by Future in a video Rocko posted on his Instagram a week before this song’s release:
