The start of this children’s story finds Danny leaving the house to pick up some groceries. Things don’t go as planned.

I just wonder bread implies that he had (and most likely still does have) money on his mind. Back in the day when he didn’t have any money, and had to use food stamps to get bread, and now as well, but this time he’s just trying to get more.

Additionally, Danny’s pronunciation of “I just wonder bread” to sound like “I just want the bread,” which reaffirms the rest of the lyrics as well.

Demonstrations in this case refer to him performing, and/or being in the booth spitting. Every time he’s doing these things, he always kills it.

He’s listening to good music and spitting nasty bars, and that’s whats happenin on on a daily basis for him. Also a possible shout out to MF DOOM, as he made a song called Vomitspit.

Nice wordplay with “change” in this line. I interpreted this in two ways:

  • Change is making it’s approach towards the lifestyle of the people, and these changes do involve more money coming from the people, so you might have to resort to rummaging couches for change (quarters, dimes, nickels, fuck the pennies) to keep up with the change of lifestyle.

  • Okay so he ended this verse saying “Ya’ll are more than just women, you’re children of god,” which led me to believe this had something to do with how women can sometimes spend a lot of money for the sake of looking beautiful. And at the same time, things are getting expensive, which leads to the rummaging couches for change due to the changing prices of what they’re buying. Perhaps YC is saying they don’t need to do this, as the next line says “But you better than that”

The people YC grew up with, whether its family or friends either got content with living in the Bronx, which is not a nice neighborhood, or could never get out because of lack of money or other reasons.

YC decided he didn’t want to be content with that lifestyle and pursue a better life elsewhere.

This line to me felt like this was connected to the last part of the last line “Everybody is equal”, which would fit into the album thematically, seeing that some of the main themes are God, race, power (GNK stands for Gods, Niggas, Kings).

Basically, what I got from this is that we are all equal, including YC, but none of us are worthless, but rather, we are all very important, just as gods are.

To put it simply, talking about big people could get you killed.

I feel like this is also a reference to people talking shit about the government. Whether it be via music or another medium, if you continue to do so, putting out info that they don’t want you to put out, they’ll get angry, and respond in a rather unethical manner
