Very meta, even in the previous line, I think Chance forms a metaphor. The ‘04 Ford Taurus may represent the long grind he’s been on and that American tenacity. The spare could represent his handicaps and vulnerability, 2nd chances, or perseverance, while the wax finish just means looked good the whole time.

also, i dunno bout where yall live, but one of the major companies around here that provide wax finishes on your car, is Turtle Wax… which reverts back to the turtoise vs the hair

I’m using the housing term “duplex”, which means a 2 floor home in a complex that’s connected by stairs, as a way to describe 2 things coexisting. According to the person who’s perspective this is written from, he doesn’t want that. It’s a bachelor pad, not a single family home.

I always thought this line was about him wanting to make sure that the girl in question was not going to tell any one that they were going to fuck, because he didn’t see it as a big deal. It was not as significant to him as it was to her. So he didnt think anyone needed to know about it, he was probably even a little ashamed of it, for whatever reason because he wants her to keep it a secret.
